How To Buy Wyoming Workers Compensation Insurance:

Wyoming Workers Compensation Insurance is administered by the Worker's Safety and Compensation Division of the Wyoming Department of Employment. Wyoming is a monopolistic state and workers compensation insurance coverage is only available for employers in Wyoming through this division. Private insurance is not available in Wyoming and cannot be purchased from private insurance companies. All employers before beginning a business or starting work in Wyoming must register with the division. Out of state employers conducting business in Wyoming must also sign up. This registration applies to both Unemployment Insurance and Worker's Compensation coverage. Here's information you will need in order to get signed up.

Information You Will Need To Complete An Application:

When signing up for workers comp in Wyoming you will be asked to complete a joint application issued by the Wyoming Department of Employment. This application will ask for a great deal of information about your business and your business operations within their state. They will want to know about the work processes and products you produce, the primary nature of your business, goods and services provided in Wyoming. They will then ask you for the approximate percentages of sales and revenues by each product or service. This is a very important part of completing the application as it is what the division uses to determine your rate or tax rate. You will also need to have this basic information available:

• Your legal business name, Corporate, LLC, Sole Proprietor, Partnership, DBA and other legal names in which your business is known.
• Mailing address and business contact phone number.
• Federal ID or social security number.
• They need to know in what legal form your business operates.
• The first date you are hiring workers in Wyoming.
• A complete description of your business operations and a description of all work performed.
• An estimated monthly Wyoming payroll.
• Also the names, addresses and social security numbers and dates of birth of all owners and officers of the business.

Complete A Wyoming Application for Workers Compensation Insurance:

The Wyoming application for workers compensation is actually called "The Joint Business Registration Form." This form is available online from the Wyoming Department of Employment. Completion of this form is required before starting a business or otherwise beginning work in Wyoming. It is a joint application which covers registration for workers comp and unemployment insurance. If you are an out of state employer you must complete and submit a paper joint business registration form along with the out of state questionnaire which you can find online.
