Workers compensation policy information for the State of Connecticut

- State Fund: There is no state fund.
- Assigned Risk: Connecticut assigned risk plans and reinsurance pools are administered by NCCI.
- Numerical Exceptions: None
- Individual Waivers Allowed: Yes
- Sole Proprietor: Excluded from coverage/may elect to be included. If included the rating payroll used is $59,000 a year as of 1-1-2011.
- Partners: Included in coverage/may elect to be excluded. If included the rating payroll used is $59,000 a year as of 1-1-2011.
- Corporate Officers: Included in coverage/may elect to be exempt. If included the minimum rating payroll used is $700 per week and the maximum payroll is $1,300 per week as of 1-1-2011.
- LLC Members: Members of LLC's that contain only one member are considered excluded but they may elect to be included. Members of a multi-member LLC are considered to be included unless they have elected to be excluded. This is according to section 31-275 and clarified from confusion by memo 2003-3. If included the minimum rating payroll used is $700 per week and the maximum payroll is $1,300 per week as of 1-1-2011.

Subrogation Statute - Connecticut
- Connecticut Workers In Other States; Other States Workers In Connecticut; Extraterritorial; Reciprocity; Non-Compliance: Connecticut does not specifically address extraterritorial provisions. However you can find a reference under section 31-275 where they define an "Employee" as 9 (B) "Employee" shall not be construed to include: (vi) Any person who is not a resident of this state but is injured in this state during the course of his employment, unless such person 1. works for an employer who has a place of employment or facility located in this stte at which such person spends at least 50% of his employment time, or 2. works for an employer pursuant to an employment contract to be performed primarily in this state."
