NAICS - North American Industry Classification System

The North American Industry Classification System (abbreviated 'NAICS') is a system of classifying industry segments by a (6) six-digit code. Established in the 1997 as a response to the increased economic influence of Canada and Mexico. NAICS codes are much more detailed in their descriptive data than the previously used SIC codes.

The longer code system also provides for more detail in the data provided. NAICS Codes are guided by the interational NAICS agreement.
